Isabgol, 100 grams
Isabgol is a great ayurvedic medicine for gastrointestinal tract with a very gentle effect.
Isabgol is a mild laxative, anti-toxic, anti-inflammatory remedy. It lowers cholesterol, LDL, urea, bile acids and glucose level. Isabgol supresses pathogenic flora and increases the number of useful acidophilic and bifidophilic bacteria in intestines.
It is a great dietary supplement, when nutrition is poor with fiber.
Due to high cellulose content, gel mass is formed in the intestines, which absorbs toxins, gases, relieving abdominal pain and bloating. It suppresses absorption of fats, thus reducing cholesterol and LDL level and reducing body weight.

Indications: constipation, various intoxications, including alcohol, increased cholesterol and LDL level, excessive weight and obesity (together with other medicines), intestinal dysfunction, hemorrhoids, anal fissure, postoperative period, chronic diarrhea, cystitis, diverticulosis, dysentery, irritable bowel syndrome.
Content: Plantago ovata or Plantago ispagula.
Dosage/Application: put 1 teaspoon (3-5 grams) in a glass of warm water, keep for some time, mix and drink at once. Afterwards drink one more glass of water or as much water as one can. Take this medicine before going to sleep. Course: not more than 8-10 days. For children under 12 years dose should be decreases.
Contra indications: pregnancy, lactation, ileus, stenosis, diabetes with frequent hypoglycemia, abdominal pains of unknown genesis, fecal impaction.
Side effects or overdosing: bloating; rarely: allergy, anaphylaxis.
Caution! Course should not exceed 8-10 days.
Note! It is necessary to drink at least 6-8 glasses of clean unboiled water during Isabgol treatment.
Drug interactions: people with diabetes, type 1, may require lesser insulin doses.
As Isabgol has a powerful absorbing effect, take it one hour after other medicines (for example: aspirin, glycosides, antibiotics, anticoagulants) and dietary supplements (calcium, iron, zinc, sodium, potassium, etc.).
Isabgol may reduce effect of antidiarrheal medicines.
Isabgol boosts effect from hypotensive therapy, it causes stronger hypotensive effect when taken together with pain-killers.
Antagonism with sympathomimetic medicines.
